Patients Celebrate Four Years on NxStage TherapyWellBoundOn February 11, 2008, six NxStage patients, their caregivers, and staff from WellBound and NxStage, gathered at a San Francisco east bay area restaurant for a very special event: celebrating their four-year anniversary on the NxStage System One. WellBound, a Satellite Healthcare company, was the first program in NxStage’s IDE clinical study in 2003, which led to NxStage’s home clearance for the System One in mid-2005. Four patients—Susan, Craig, Everett, and Carl—began training in early December 2003, and Judith and Jake started soon after in the first quarter of 2004. In looking at the group gathered, it was difficult to determine who was the patient and who was the caregiver; all patients reported to feeling great, being extremely happy with the therapy and the freedom it provides, and the WellBound doctors and nurses attest to the clinical results.
Clarian Health Partners – Indiana UniversityOn Wednesday, May 28, 2008, Clarian Health/IU hosted a special patient luncheon celebrating 4 years of daily home hemodialysis with the NxStage System One. Over 30 patients and their partners, along with the home dialysis team, NxStage personnel, and a state representative attended the event that recognized four patients – Angie, James, Ray, and Rick – achieving four years on the therapy. Clarian Health/IU participated in the FDA home indication study for the NxStage System One and has grown to become the largest single program offering this home dialysis option. After a short presentation, a microphone was passed throughout the audience, where patients told heartwarming stories of how daily home HD and the NxStage system had changed their lives for the better.
