Earlier this week, I was excited to join dialyzers, care partners, physicians, nurses, and other renal professionals from across the country in Baltimore, MD for the Home Dialyzors United third annual conference and meetup. While we were there, we talked about the benefits of home hemodialysis and what members of the renal community can do to raise awareness and increase access to this amazing therapy.

Take a look at the just-published review, "How to Overcome Barriers and Establish a Successful Home HD Program" in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. I believe this marks the start of a turning point in how the nephrology community thinks about its obligation to endorse home hemodialysis and increase access.

"Three days of biking, wrapped by four nights camping in the hills of northern Iowa all to raise awareness about kidney disease…what’s not to love!" This September, I participated in Tour DaVita, an annual bike ride to create awareness about kidney disease. They call it the “Ride of a Lifetime,” and I can vouch for that.
