Meet some of our team!
I enjoy being a NxStage Patient Consultant because I believe knowledge is power. My husband had chronic kidney disease and I was there for him through in-center treatments and a transplant. After his transplant failed, I became his care partner on the NxStage System. My experiences with my husband have given me the knowledge to help you understand what to expect. I look forward to helping you on your dialysis journey!
I love having the opportunity to be a Patient Consultant with NxStage. I was diagnosed with CKD at the age of 24. The diagnosis left me feeling scared and lost. Before receiving a transplant in 2016, I spent six years on dialysis, the final two of which were on home hemodialysis (HHD). More frequent HHD gave me the health benefits I needed, as well as the quality of life I wanted. Being able to help other patients find their way through such a huge, life-changing experience has been an honor. I enjoy being that listening ear and providing the guidance most patients seek when weighing their treatment options.
I am fortunate to be a Patient Consultant with NxStage, where I can share my own story with dialysis patients who are thinking about trying home hemodialysis (HHD). I am currently on HHD and have lived with chronic kidney disease for over 15 years. Before trying HHD utilizing the NxStage system, I had tried every treatment option out there. HHD is by far the best treatment option for me. I have been able to regain control of my life by taking control of my treatments. I look forward to talking with you about your HHD options.
I was diagnosed with ESRD in 2014. I started as an in-center hemodialysis patient, but after 1 1/2 years I was introduced to peritoneal dialysis (PD) as a home therapy. This was a good choice for me, given my active lifestyle. Unfortunately, at the 2 1/2 year mark, my PD therapy lost its efficacy, and I found myself back in center.
Three months later I was introduced to more frequent home hemodialysis (HHD) using the NxStage System One, and I started to see the difference in my quality of life. I also really appreciated the flexibility this therapy gave me. I was able to work, be with my family, and travel. I was fortunate enough to receive a kidney transplant in November of 2018.
As a Patient Advocate, it has become my passion to reach more people who, like myself, may have found themselves lost and confused, feeling like no one understands them. I can share how I succeeded and help them better understand dialysis and other treatment options.
